Appointments vs. the Calendar
One-on-one bookings, not group classes
When to use Appointments instead of Calendar, and how the two apps are completely separate.
Two different tools, on purpose
The Calendar app is for group classes and events -- many people booking the same time slot. Appointments is for one-on-one bookings -- a consultation, a private session, a meeting -- where each time slot is for exactly one client and one staff member. They are entirely separate apps with their own settings, their own public booking flow at /book/, and can both be turned on at the same time if your business needs both.
The moving pieces
- Services -- what a client is booking (a type of appointment), with its own duration and price.
- Staff Availability -- when each staff member can actually be booked.
- Open slots a client sees are your availability, minus any appointment already booked, minus (if you choose) any class that staff member is teaching at the same time.
