Set this before you build pages
Under Design & Appearance, you set your site colors and fonts once. Every section on every page you build afterward automatically uses them -- buttons, headings, backgrounds, all of it. That is why it is worth doing first: build your pages after this is set, and you never have to go back and manually re-color anything.
Keep it simple
You do not need a big palette. One primary color (your brand color, the one on your sign or logo), a neutral background, and readable text is enough for a site that looks put-together. Pick fonts that are easy to read at a glance -- this matters more than picking something trendy.
